When socialism is talked about there is central focus on controlling the means of production.
What if we looked at the angle of controlling the means of culture.
What does your radio station do for you?
It plays a repeated playlist of mainstream hits by mostly corporately owned artists/actors/puppets. Near constant commercial and advertisements.
What does my, community owned radio station do for me?
It provides real, genuine and extremely unique music of many genres. It provides amazing bits of history of my area. It provides info on great events in my area. No commercials, ever.
When a community owns something, it serves the community.
When a corporation owns something, it serves the corporation.
Check out 88.1 KDHX if you're in the StL area, or check it out online if you're not. It is truly one of, if not the best all around stations in the world. That's not biased, that's really truly how it's viewed by people all around the world. It's first class. We are very lucky to have it here in StL.
