and the point of this observation is to provoke thought -- it's a thought exercise.

With you're comment you're showing an unwillingness to engage in the exercise, unwilling to see it from a scoped out perspective.

It is true and remarkable that so many police officers are absolved from panicked actions while untrained civilians are expected to always remain calm when aggression is directed at them.
