They are shackled with Okie State, they have a very small population, and nobody needs them anymore.
National media contracts? Guess which conference gets the most viewership on national networks? Missouri has had better ratings the last few years than Oklahoma.
Whether national or conference network, eyeballs drive the metrics, not reputation. Population equals advertising dollars, especially in the coming years as viewership numbers continue to slide. The SEC Network will be one of the exceptions to that trend. Adding a school that drags on those earnings will simply not be allowed to happen.
And that's why Rutgers, not Oklahoma.
Be happy, you're in a conference that understood the game and took advantage of it.
