is the key. Plenty of inferior athletes have become great defenders. I didn't see anything from Clark, Isabel, and Gant that showed me that they wanted to play on the defensive end of the floor at a level we needed. Allen being the exception of the defectors. But Allen was also a tweener and not good enough on the offensive end to justify a lot of minutes.
Conversely, Phillips and Puryear gave a ton of effort and were somewhat limited by inexperience. Walton's effort was meh mostly and I think that's the reason his minutes waned as compared to CVL. CVL is limited but also gives great effort.
I also thought that even given his limitations, Woods was a committed defender. I think you'll see those 5 playing better D this year. The key is how quickly the Fr assimilate and do what's needed to be effective on D at this level.
