Prediction on how lineup will play out

To start the season, you will see the following lineup (starter, backup):

Phillips, Walton/Geist
Walton, Hughes/Geist/CVL
CVL, Hughes/Jackson
Puryear, Jackson
Woods, Smith/Nikko

Jackson and Smith first off bench. The most experienced players will play the most minutes, as the focus will be on accumulating wins in the non-conf. I expect Woods and Puryear to have inflated numbers during this portion of season.

By conference season, lineup will be:

Phillips, Geist/Hughes
Walton, CVL/Hughes
Barnett, CVL/Jackson/Walton
Puryear, Jackson/Barnett
Smith, Jackson/Woods/Nikko

Jackson and CVL will be first off the bench, Woods or Nikko if Smith in foul trouble. They'll probably try starting the conference season with Woods, but I think it will quickly be seen that he does not have the skills, size nor vertical to compete against P5 bigs. We will struggle with Smith and Nikko, and I wouldn't be surprised to see us go small with Jackson, Puryear and Barnett playing together. But Smith will show enough with his hands, and Nikko with his size and positioning, that Woods will lose the starting spot. Barnett will essentially replace CVL at the wing, who will move to SG behind Walton. Offense will try to give most scoring opportunities to Puryear, Walton and Barnett.
