I know that is obvious for those not addled with TDS, but sometimes a reminder is helpful, and discussion instructional.

From NR Online:

"The simple truth is that the federal government does not have a revenue problem. It has a spending problem. Solving a spending problem on this scale, however, is not a matter of “improving efficiency” and “rooting out waste, fraud and abuse.” It is about solving two fundamental issues: The government is involved in far too many things and lacks a sensible budget process. The inevitable result is a government that simultaneously overspends and underdelivers."

The article details how spending can be cut, and why (the US government has no business being in the "social securty" or healthcare business and it does a **** poor job at both). What caught my eye were the proposals to fix a hopelessly broken budget process. Personally, I think disbanding the utterly worthless CBO would be a start. But the author suggested eliminating the debt ceiling (which is a charade), and repealing the Wilsonian-era Second Liberty Bond Act (which would negate the need for a debt ceiling.
