We played there in the early 50's and he pretty well got p*ssed off when recalling the place.
"It's a helluva place to have to play football. ! No track between the players bench and stadium, they'd reach over and hit you with pop bottles. "
He said he remembered a little old lady hitting him with an umbrella cussing him out just for being on the opposing team.
He had a special place in his heart for them. That's for sure.
