I largely agree with that, with a few important exceptions.

I don't think this was Biondi's call. Trump is calling the shots on most things, and certainly with respect to the Epstein scandal. If she could, I think Biondi would love to release the Epstein files to great fanfare. She would be a hero. As it stands, she is having to make excuses for her boss.
fwiw, you are quite right... they did indeed bungle expectations in a huge way. They created and fueled big expectations regarding the Epstein files, and then reversed course in unexpectedly abrupt fashion and tried to gaslight everyone that There is nothing to see here. If they had a clue as to what was in them and knew they couldn't have released them they should never have built expectations so high and made such a spectacle of their abrupt about face.
I agree with you here, And it is not for trump to ask rhetorically in a press conference "are you still asking about that? The american people aren't interested in that."
but would go further in saying that was managing expectations as an attempt at gaslighting in order to maniupulate his base, who he apparently felt were sheeple who would quickly fall in line with their tails between their legs at his command.
I agree with you that Trump has done some great things and exceeded my expectations in his first term and greatly exceeded my expectations in the second, up until recently. The seeming change of heart regarding the war mongering neocons and the Epstein fiasco are very concerning to me, and they may well be connected. If so, that doubles or triples the concern or more.
With respect to the Yankees baseball analogy I can certainly appreciate the sentiment that we still have a long way to go to see how this "season" plays out, but I don't think his accomplishments, amazingly good on several fronts up to this point, have secured a positive legacy for him... not by a long shot. To my mind, we &/or historians could look back on his legacy as astoundingly good, perhaps the best president ever... or it could end in catastrophe, war or even nuclear world war, or economic collapse, or both.
Time will tell, of course.
