data and putting it into their government databases. Also, who are these companies providing the cloud data storage for it all, and why do they need access to our private email & phone accounts?

It would be one thing if this was just *my* data, that I had control of, but it is quite another when some random watch company I never heard of collects all of the data & shares it with the government for their Big Brother databases.

It fits in with the Big Brother, Big Pharma, health care databases. When we took the kids in for checkups they were always asking intrusive questions, such as whether we have any guns in the home... as the doctor is writing everything down in the notes that will be input into the government database.

They of course, have historical records of everyone's doctor visits, height, weight, any vitamins, medications, every vaccine throughout your life, and myriad other datapoints that they can monitor. Who knows if any blood tests or anything else are tested for DNA samples that can be fed into their database.

Of course a perfectly benign government could use such things exclusively for good. An evil, however, could use it for a multitude of evil purposes.

There is no reason that a watch couldn't give you all of the data that YOU need to make good health decisions, without tapping into all of your data and sending it to the government and whoever else has access to it, whether legally or surreptitiously.

and it isn't just the marketing costs that are to be absorbed by Big Brother...

“It’s a miraculous impact on health in our country,” he said. “It’s $80 a month, we’re exploring ways of making sure that those costs can be paid for. Ozempic is costing $1,300 a month. If you can achieve the same thing with an $80 wearable, it’s a great thing for the American people.”

Of course that doesn't include the expenses for the government collecting, storing & analyzing that data, nor the bureaucracy to oversee it and try to protect it from hackers, either private or from other government agents.

Hopefully, no evil government rulers in our future would use it for things like ethnic cleansing or eugenic purposes... eg. cleaning out the gene pool of those with DNA markers that indicate higher risk of certain diseases or lower intelliigence, or those of unwanted races... but our country and others have had government officials who did carry out evil in the name of those nefarious goals, and that is likely to have others who wish to do so in the future. This would make it easier for them to do, of course.
