approach to the bench is they don't see their job as simply to interpret the law as written. They see their role as being to correct what they believe are mistakes and to correct it in the manner they believe is in the best interests of all. It is not tied to anything objective. It is about how they believe the law should read and what makes society "better" or "more fair". But again, that is based on nothing beyond their view of better and more fair. And that is a dangerous approach to the law.
