i will say this. my sister is married to a Persian guy. My nieces are half Persian. I have been hanging around Persian ex-pat community in KC and San Fran area the vast majority of my life. In general all great people. Not backwards goat herders like Afghans.
I have yet to meet an Iranian that didn't feel that Iran was being occupied by a nihilistic theocratic cult. I've also heard them all express that they really can't believe Iranians haven't rebelled at some point in the last 40 years.
in any event, I'm not saying we should nation build but I think the chance of Iran, on their own, becoming a nation that isn't a state sponsor of terror all over the middle east is actually decent odds.
