those are big IFs. Longevity and lifetime stats are a huge component of selection. There are more guys in the HoF for that than for shorter, more dominant careers - those are the exception.
Why do you insist on ignoring every other stat?
I know you have a rooting interest here, but there's very little basis for Salvy comparing favorably to Ted Simmons UNLESS he produces 50% more hits, RBI, WAR, Runs, 2B, 3B than he currently has and he's 35 years old.
I'm genuinely not trying to combative here, but there is no comparison in HoF criteria as players alone between Perez and Simmons. None.
Perez could possibly get in for his shorter term achievements, defensive play and winning a WS, but I don't understand at all your need to try to reduce the accomplishments of Ted Simmons.
Ted Simmons is 104th on the All-time MLB hits list and he's a catcher.
