OPS is great but players in a good lineup will have an advantage because they won't get pitched around as much.

WAR is flawed also. They assign an arbitrary number to each position.

I never watched AL baseball so I can't comment on Perez but Molina was the best I've seen at blocking pitches. Cardinals pitchers would throw balls in the dirt to get the batter to chase knowing Molina would block it. He was a key factor in a couple world series wins and multiple playoff teams.
