I’m pretty sure there is a level of NIL money going to WBB and softball. But the real question is how does it compare to the competition? I would be shocked if it is sufficient to be particularly competitive in recruiting.

In my entire life Mizzou has never funded sports like many other colleges. Personally, I think COMO is simply too small of a market, with few, interested corporate annd business interests, that will spend on Mizzou athletics compared to the competition. And the rest of the state has always been somewhat ambivalent about Mizzou outside of alums and students. Hell, any town of size in Missouri has their own college to worry about supporting that is way more important to their local economy. Frankly, the main reason I’ve never been particularly for the move away from the B12 is that Mizzou is run way more like B12 schools than SEC or B10 schools. I mean MU couldn’t win hardly anything in the B12 so why would they thrive in hotter kitchens?

Anyway, it does seem like MU is at least committing as much as they can to be competitive in football and MBB. Which is probably the best strategy considering they bring the most value to the MU brand that helps recruit students and keep
alums interested. The other sports are gonna struggle depending on what other schools can or will commit. It’s no coincidence Okie and TX types are good at most everything because they are in way bigger markets and have the money to make it happen. Anything Mizzou does that is successful is definitely a case study in overachieving and getting a good coach that is willing to stay and fight against the odds.
