Great questions. To your point, I lhave to believe the southern SEC baseball schools are pumping some decent NIL $$ into baseball considering the $$ they have put into their facilities. Softball — it’s there I’m sure, I’m just not sure what the numbers are. Texas Tech giving Stanford’s pitcher $1 million is an outlier I believe. But is $500k the average NIL budget number for the Top SEC softball programs? Wish I knew.
Take Lilly Whitten transferring to Ole Miss and having to sit out a year because the portal was closed. Was NIL a factor? If so, given she was Mizzou’s 4th pitcher but showed promise, Mizzou softball probably is way behind the NIL softball game.
