first steps to fixing the league...
50 games

No back to backs
No play in
Must have a winning record to qualify for playoffs .500 does not count
If there are not 8 teams with winning records, there are byes
first round 2/3
second round 3/5
conf finals & Finals 4/7
give the home team a bigger advantage so teams don't settle for the 4 or 5 when they could win a couple and be the 2 or 3
Example, in a best of 7, make the home/road 5/2 instead of 4/3.....I'd do it 2-2-3
Get this thing over with sooner....playoff games are every other day, no 3-4 day layoffs.
conf finals start by April 16-17. Finals start May 1.
A biggie....If in any game, any player plays less than 50% of their season average in minutes....they must sit out the next 3 games...equal to 1 week.
Fewer games, shorter season, not only creates more urgency which will improve the league, but it also reduces wear and tear and reduces the desire to load manage. And if you punish load management, it largely goes away. Maybe you gotta make it 5 games instead of 3. But if you sit out, you must be injured and need a rest, so here's your fvcking rest.
There are lots of problems with the league, but the biggest one is lack of urgency which leads to lack of effort or participation which is what drives fans away. The NBA is hemorrhaging right now and they need big steps to fix it.
