research (e.g. polling) is done less frequently to LEARN things than they are to PROVE things.
I can imagine the biden administration telling harvard, "Here's a billion dollars, go prove that climate change will kill us by next thursday".
A few years ago i read that a study was done to debunk the myth that asians, then whites, then blacks and hispanics were the top performers on IQ tests. Previous studies had only confirmed that pecking order.
This study was done in south africa and the respondents were specifically selected from very similar demographic groups, same incomes, same parental structure at home, same family beliefs and same education.
They tried to eliminate any post natal influences on intelligence and bring it all down to race.
The test was supposed to prove no significant difference between the races' intelligence.
