Public courses are largely packed and they want too much

$$ for some of these courses. I really wish a lot of people would quit playing.

There's not enough public courses north of the river in KC.

Shoal Creek is nice but way overpriced
Tiffany now sucks i'm told and is a goat ranch
Hodge Park is well, Hodge Park, might actually be the best value of any of the courses
Smithville is decent but it's 20-30 minutes to drive to
The Platte City course is a health hazzard

That's basically it unless you want to drive to Winterstone
