Wrong. Every competent study has shown that the effective tax rate would go up for the poor under a national sales tax, and down for the rich. The rich still get taxed on profits, which is where they get their income. I am assuming under youre proposal they would not be taxed on investment income and profits anymore. The rich would love it.
