I think that NIL has been an overall positive thing for college basketball. Think of all the guys that were good players that we missed out on watching play the college game because they wanted to go make middling money in Europe or more recently the G League. Now they can stay in school and support their family. (The transfer situation may not be as good for college basketball).
Some professional leagues have some pretty important carve outs with the feds for anti trust issues. I don't know enough about those or their consequences to know how that helps them, but it may be possible that some professional sports leagues may think that college athletics being quasi-professional may help their cause, rather than hurt it.
Obviously, if college basketball changes things and suddenly grants everyone 10 years of eligibility that would not be the case. ;)
