I believe that you need to be able to switch 1–3, & maybe 4

Depending on your lineup, but I would never switch my 5. And my five would never leave the lane unless the other teams five is a known shooter kind of like Laettner was back in the day. And in man defense, I would never use my five on the high trap out above the top of the key, or even the free-throw line. Unless you have a crazy athletic guy, it’s just too easy to get beaten back inside with him caught out there. This was a major flaw with Cuonzo Martin’s defense.
