neither HC looks like they can do that and rely on assistants. HCD failed when he "tried" to call plays. Like many here watching successful coaches, Gates doesn't work the refs enough, and doesn't seem involved in directing much floor play while there's game action.
Finding the politically correct culture builder has fit the MU organizational plan and is a huge reason for the limited success.
Self was too unknown at Tulsa, Sampson was too dirty, and Callipardi was well toto Callipardi for them
