I'm sorry but if our bar is a "fun" regular season, then we deserve all the stunning first round upsets that have haunted us over the years.
I want to make the Final Four. I want a run at a championship. First round losses to Drake or #15 seeds are not going to cut it.
This 2025 team was set up perfectly for tournament success. You could see on many nights, they could beat anybody in the country. I don't ever remember watching a Mizzou team absoutely run over Kansas for most of a game- I don't care how good or bad they were this year. They beat Florida IN FLORIDA- who many think will win then entire tourney. Alabama at home. The list goes on. And it looked like they wanted it as much as we did.
The crashout to end the season was soul-crushing and just wrong on so many levels. 1 month ago we were looking at the schedule figuring out how we could get a #1 or #2 seed. Then we crashed and burned in a manner rarely if ever seen, without a major injury to a key player.
I think major, massive questions have now developed over Dennis Gates' late season and postseason approach to coaching basketball. Whatever he's doing, it's categorically wrong, and needs to be changed immediately. Unless Mizzou fans are satisfied with a few fun wins, followed by shocking embarassment in the Tournament. We can do better than that.
