Out of the last 16 years, Mizzou has actually made the tournament 9 times. But Mizzou has lost in the first round 6 out of the last 7 times we've made it. 4 of those, Mizzou was in the 8,9,10 seed ... which it seems like is a Mizzou staple position.
10 times since 1990 Mizzou has been seeded from 7-10. This is the 2nd most of all teams in that timeframes, with only Michigan State with more, at 11 times, however, Michigan State.
Mizzou however has been in these seeds 52% of the time they make the tourney and MSU has only been in the those seeds 39% of the time. Also MSU has been seeded 1-4 as many times as they've been seeded 7-10.
I've long contended that our results in the tournament (lack of sweet 16 appearances) have had more to do with where we have been seeded as opposed to actually underperforming... in fact, Mizzou has made 5 sweet 16's since 1990 and has been seeded 1-5 only 6 times (both of these include the 1994 vacated seaon).
