At this point, I’d rather spend $50 to $60 million on football and MBB and make WBB and softball sports of emphasis. Volleyball too but I don’t see them getting a new gym anytime soon. WBB because you are already going to have the stellar arena for MBB so why not try to grow a program? I just don’t think there is enough interest in mid-MO for both softball and baseball and softball is cheaper to fund. Fewer players, can have a nice facility with a more reasonable cost. Game is growing and is spectator friendly. I don’t suppose MO will drop baseball but they should just put in an all turf field and maybe a few aesthetic enhancements to Taylor. And largely just try to win with MO talent and call it a day.

I just don’t see the payoff for Mizzou to spend big on baseball. Frankly, in this era, I’m not sure what the point of non revenue sports are when TV money and alum/student/brand interest are 99% of the reason to even have sports at a power school. If you want participation opportunities, seems like that is for lower levels where money and fans take a backseat to offering kids opportunities and as a student recruitment tool for your smaller school.

Anyway, I’d rather spend $50 to $60 mil on NIL for the sports that fund things and truly raise the brand. I’m sure we can debate what sports do that once you get past football and MBB.
