would crush Ukraine, stop wherever it wants and keep whatever it wants and untold huge numbers of people would die or be maimed, and everyone in Ukraine would suffer for longer... to what end? So that we could say that "we didn't stand with Russia?".
That doesn't seem like a viable/rational option to me.
What does "standing with western Europe mean to you? Spending more tens of billions of dollars to irritate Russia and we would end up with the same result as in the first paragraph? That seems even less rational than letting them overrun Ukraine more quickly.
Or do you mean spending additional tens of billions of dollars and escalating the war big time... perhaps boots on the ground in Ukraine? WWIII? That would be the most irrational option of all it seems to me.
