Sikeston, Jefferson City, and many other cities and rural towns would not have taken place or would not take place in the future.
This could have a negative impact on their local economies, including businesses, jobs, etc... and local tax revenue which could have larger implications for the city to provide services.
The attractiveness for people to live and move there would be diminished, which could negatively impact the population of the city for future growth.
That is just the economic side of it all.
Some of these projects promoted physical health activities, which could reduce healthcare issues like obesity, improve cardiovascular health, and reduce health care costs. In particular, someone mentioned a municipal pool project- more children with access to learning how to swim could save lives in the future.
