I believe Watkins would have been (or should have been) the starter in RF from day 1, and the only reason why Dodge is starting is because Watkins was injured.
Should we be concerned that Dodge started the season something like 2-16? The only things certain in life are death, taxes, and overreacting to the first few games of a sports season. Particularly the 56 game type sports. But clearly the pressure is on her to produce. And on Coach Anderson to make the right decision on whether and when to bench a struggling player versus sticking with them and giving them an opportunity to get into a hitting rhythm.
Having not watched any of the games, I don’t know how Dodge has looked at the plate. You can start 2-16 and be making good contact, hitting the ball hard but right at someone. And be just inches away from going 6-16 or 7-16. Or you can start 2-16 and really be struggling at the plate, lots of strikeouts, not making much contact. Which was the case with Dodge these first 5 games?
