FEMA was formed in 1979 because state and local resources were being consistently overwhelmed and it has mostly worked well during its existence. Its shortcomings are being politicized when in reality, the extremely active hurricane season in 2024 and the LA fires have taxed FEMA's considerable but finite resources. Trump needs to take a step back, take politics out of the equation and take a deep breath.
