Some had been held since then for simply entering the building. That is overreach and preposterous.

Some were jailed for simply being in the building. Also preposterous.

Those who were found to have engaged in forms of violence and destruction were held, spent time and they had their sentence commuted. They have already spent more time than many truly violent criminals. It is on their record, but hey were allowed to leave confinement.
