lockout and force a salary cap/floor.

The union is BS because it protects the few elites to get huge money but does not protect the masses to bring up the median pay.

This was discussed at length probably 25 years ago, and even if they kick all the players out, in 4-5 years you wouldn't be able to tell anyway when you consider average career length. And it would NEVER happen that all the players would walk. Most of them would play under a new CBA, agreed to with an entirely new union, after breaking the existing union.
It was estimated that at least 75% of the player salaries would either not be impacted, or they would actually increase.
