But I believe the team with the best record, or maybe best conference record, in certain conferences, gets an NIT bid. That is, the best record after all the teams picked for the NCAA tourney. Which could be a team with a sub .500 record.
Didn’t SLU, with a sub .500 record, go to the WNIT last year and actually win it all?
Now, if that’s true, we would have to finish ahead of all the non NCAA teams in the SEC, which looks like it will be us, Arky, Georgia, TAMU, Florida and Auburn. And I don’t see us finishing ahead of all those teams. Florida might even make a run at an NCAA bid, with a current NET rank of 47, although it’s more likely they get chewed up by the top 9 teams in the conference and fall short. But with 3 McDonalds AAs on the roster, their future is much brighter than ours I’m afraid.
