1. Saban was once a player himself, so he understands the plight of the player.

2. Saban is not against players receiving monetary payments for playing.

3. Saban earned his big paychecks by coaching schools to championships and demonstrating a work ethic that was unmatched in the profession. He was an obsessed workaholic. The players efforts are not near what Saban was giving for the money.

4. Without coaches like Saban who build huge rabid fanbases through coaching teams into dynasties, these players would not be able to benefit from the big money environment that now pays them for playing.

5. Saban signed contracts. Players aren't really doing that. They are bouncing around every year.
