Chuck Banta died this week. Springfield Parkview product who started at safety for the Tigers in 1975 and 1976. Recorded 11 tackles in the win over Ohio State in 1976. Also famous for breaking his helmet in 10 pieces when he tackled Don Hasselback of Colorado in 1976. The safety meeting room in the football facility is named after Chuck.

More important, Chuck was a great guy, a tremendous human being. Those of us who knew him will miss him a lot.
