Is most likely to be occurring right now:

A. Veatch has already made a firm, final decision to not rehire Pingeton at the end of the season, and is actively working on identifying the best replacement possible, working on narrowing targets down to a short list, and securing the funding support from the university to pay such a person.

B. Veatch is undecided about whether to rehire Pingeton and is truly taking a wait and see approach until the end of the season and has a scenario in his mind where “X” level of success this season alone will justify giving her a new contract, and therefore is not putting forth any effort right now to identify a short list of targets to succeed her?

Just an opinion, but it would be AD malpractice for him to not be deep into a search right now for a new hire. And I do understand that circumstances could occur during the course of the season that could cause a qualified coach to be a good target towards the end of the season when they don’t seem like it today.
