That anyone thinks Sophie could step in and be an effective coach with absolutely zero experience. As you’ve pointed out there are so many factors which go into being a successful coach at this level, we have no idea if Sophie has any of those qualities. Much less even the desire and temperament to coach. But the biggest thing she lacks is any experience whatsoever. Can anyone here name a single star athlete who was handed a head football or basketball coaching position at a P5 school, ever? It would be insane to even think about hiring her for the head coach position here.

Veatch can get a quality, experienced coach to come here, he just needs to do the hard work to identify a person and put up the money necessary to do it. Bigger question is does he have the will and desire to do that, or is he going to take short cuts because women’s basketball just isn’t a high priority for him.
