For a serious answer, different schools do it differently.

There are probably teachers in his building who are HS certified so if there are enough to form a class they could teach algebra or geometry in his building. I was in a district that sent a HS teacher to the middle school to teach a geometry class and they gave the kids HS credit for it. I have know others that send middle school kids to the HS to take a class. As long as they have a plan in place it should be fine.
One down side to think about before pulling the trigger. I have seen kids come to the high school on an accelerated math track, start with Algebra II and realize they are not really calculus material. Some kids who are solid math students hit a wall at algebra II. If a school does not have some other math options it can be scramble to get the math credits needed to graduate.
I'm not trying to scare you off, it is a great opportunity for him but there are things to consider before making the decision.
