the refs ****ed those calls and it hurt, but the refs can't really **** a team to being down 34-0 25 seconds into the 3rd quarter.
What happened after 2 bad calls went against us is what I've been complaining about in regards to Drink for years - this team has no discipline. The amount of procedure penalties, unforced errors, mental mistakes, etc,. is a pure reflection on Drinkwitz. I think he has tons of positive qualities - he's obviously a very good recruiter, and I think it's obvious his players love him, and I kinda like what a doofus he is. But his teams are undisciplined, emotional trainwrecks.
There were multiple times last year that the players showed absolutely unnecessary attitudes on the field and on the sideline, when things were going GREAT. They looked like they always wanted a fight with the other team. They wanted to talk **** about anything and everything. I'm good with swagger, I'm not good with foolish ****headery.
A Gary Pinkel-led team doesn't let those 2 **** calls in the opening minutes of a game sink our battleship like that. A disciplined coach of a disciplined team gets everyone together and says "Forget that ****, focus on what's next. Be ****ed about it, but channel it. Remember who you are." We do not have that, and it shows.
We have a team that is ready to fight, but they're not ready to fight for a win. They're just ready to fight.
