Soccer has been "on the verge" from when I played in high school in the 1980s. Measuring by how many play in youth sports is not a great measurement. It is where your best talent goes.

One of the links talks about soccer, not MLS specifically.

And trying to compare attendance to each other is dumb when the seating capacity is different due to indoor vs outdoor, try buying an NHL vs MLS ticket.
