this format AND the conferences were aligned as they are now AND the CFP committee had the same rankings as the AP poll at the end of the year:

1) AQ (1) B1G - Michigan Wolverines (15-0)
2) AQ (3) SEC - Texas Longhorns (12-2)
3) AQ (T6) ACC - Florida State Seminoles (13-1)
4) AQ (11) Big12 - Arizona Wildcats (10-3)
5) AQ (25) Conference USA - Liberty Flames (13-1)
6) (2) B1G - Washington Huskies (14-1)
7) (4) SEC Georgia Bulldogs (13-1)
8) (5) SEC - Alabama Crimson Tide (12-2)
9) (T6) B1G - Oregon Ducks (12-2)
10) (8) SEC - Missouri Tigers (11-2)
11) (9) SEC - Mississippi Rebels (11-2)
12) (10) B1G - Ohio State Buckeyes (11-2)

A lot of big IFs and ANDs & perhaps the conference champions would have shuffled the order slightly, but this is probably fairly close to what the actual rankings of the teams would have been.
