For once the early season rankings might be in our favor

If we do lose the two games mentioned above, part of the equation will be how close of a game it was. If we lose on a last second FG vs a blow out. If they are both close games we won't fall much. So, the early season rankings will keep us up high. If it was like last year, we'd struggle to jump up high enough without a signature win.
