The verses in 1 Corinthians 6:9-11 say nothing about lesbian sex. It cannot be translated as homosexuals. Leviticus 18 itself is completely silent on woman-woman sex. Paul appears to have created this neologism.
You should know when two words are stuck together the new composite word doesn’t automatically take on the same meaning as the words separated. Butterfly doesn’t mean butter that flies. Nor does firearm mean an arm of fire.
Paul wasn’t the only one who used arsenokoitai either. In the Apology of Aristides it was used in describing Zeus’ sexual relations with Ganymede. If you read the myth, Zeus raped Ganymede. Ganymede in Roman Latin is Catamitus. Guess what Catamitus is in English? Catamite.
catamite. noun. cat·a·mite ˈkat-ə-ˌmīt. : a boy kept by a pederast.
So a few decades after Paul wrote 1 Corinthians, the word is linked to a myth that involved molesting boy.
John IV of Constantinople used arsenokoitai too in context of sex between a husband and wife in his writing Penitential…. "In fact, many men even commit the sin of arsenokoitiai with their wives." A man cannot be homosexual with his wife.
Homosexual is a horrible translation and the apologetics trying to justify that translation are equally horrible.
