yes, mentally ill people need help and possibly institutionalization, sometimes involuntarily.

yes, homies walking the streets with disregard for civil society or the law need incarceration.

yes, illegal immigrants pouring over the borders with the sole intention of feeding off the taxpayers need to be deported.

yes all of these things lead to increased crime, poverty, homelessness, etc while placing greater strain on the systems put in place with the intention of managing them.

all these things are undeniably true, yet one side of the political spectrum vehemently disagrees and can't figure out why crime, poverty, homelessness, etc continue to be a problem.

it is baffling.
