down 14 points & they want to go for the win if possible. Rather than waiting for the second touchdown to go for it, they've switched to going for it on the first touchdown when they are 8 points down. That way if they make it, they can go for the extra point attempt if they make the 2nd touchdown... or go for two again if they didn't make the 2 pt attempt on their first try.

It gives them a better opportunity than the old way they did it.
