is where I start having issues with it.

So you're telling me a 9-3 Utah team deserves a 4 seed and first round bye in the playoff? What is the loser of the SEC title game is 11-2 with a 1 point loss to Texas, a 2 point loss to Georgia, and tons of quality wins?
