That she is basically stealing a salary this year.
She was going to be fired by DRF, and would have been, if her move had happened just 2-3 months later.
I see 3 options at this point, and my odds for each:
1. Veatch fires her at the end of this season when the team fails to make the NCAA tournament for the 6th straight season (30%).
2. Veatch extends her contract by 2-3 years in the middle of the season after they rack up a bunch of non con wins against nobody, to “show support” and take the dead coach walking sign off her back to supposedly help with future recruiting (40%).
3. Veatch extends her contract at the end of the year even though we fail to make the NCAA tournament, citing “improvement” (14 non con wins, 2 SEC wins, 16-15 overall record), and “family values”, confirming he doesn’t care one bit about WBB being a competitive program (30%).
Yeah that’s right. I think there is a 70% chance he extends her contract even after we fail to make the NCAA tourney for the 6th straight year. I know that’s pretty pessimistic. Maybe I’ll be in a better mood and lower the odds to 50/50 by the time the season rolls around.
Still, a pretty sad state of affairs any way you cut it.
