No teams at .500 or worse have even made a Super Bowl. And the game is entirely different now, not diluted like you state, but increasingly more difficult for non-elite, playoff teams, to win a title. Again though, NFL Championships are irrelevant in the scope of how fans, the media, and organizations view titles in the NFL. It's all about Super Bowl titles, nothing else.
