championship games continuously since 1933 and including today’s NFL Championship games under the marketing name of “Super Bowl.” No one cares about AFL titles because they were a start-up minor expansion league and their titles were never equal to an NFL title.
Did you ever hear of Johnny Unitas, Jim Brown and their NFL titles? Ignoring NFL titles before 1967 would be like baseball fans ignoring World Series titles before 1967 - ridiculous.
The ‘65 Packer team won the NFL Championship and not the Super Bowl because it had not yet been created. The ‘66 Packers won the NFL Championship and a walkover in the first Super Bowl. The ‘67 Packers won the NFL Championship (“Ice Bowl”) and the second Super Bowl in a walkover.
Does anyone in their right mind think the Packers would not have won the Super Bowl against a fledgling AFL in 1965 if the Super Bowl had been cooked up one year earlier.
The Packers are STILL the only team to win THREE consecutive NFL Championships. Perhaps the Chiefs will match or exceed that mark. At best they can tie it next year.
