Had a guy at Mizzou do nearly the same thing.

Burglary at the old bookstore on Lowry Mall. Guy got locked in so he could steal frat jewelry....Only he had a helluva time getting out the back door (double cylinder deadbolt) and set the silent alarm off. Finally bashed the door open and turned around to pick up his shopping basket full of goodies. CPD Sgt was standing right there watching him.

Another CPD officer I went to the Academy with was there and the chase was on.....Near the Union, he was headed right towward a UMPD officer from my shift (my Academy buddy thought it was me but I was off that night) and called out to tackle him.

Dude juked and in anticipation the UMPD officer fell over backwards untouched.

They did catch the guy on white campus.
