Even that “nice person” thing is getting tiring…

Many of Pingetons supporters cite her personal character as being such a unique, rare attribute as to cancel out mediocre results on the court. Even the new AD strongly implied that. Like she is some diamond in the rough person morally that she should be allowed to coach here as long as she wants, for that reason alone, regardless of wins and losses and failing in recruiting competitive teams that at least make the NCAA tourney nearly every year (which is itself a pretty low bar).

Not saying she isn’t a nice person, as advertised. But here’s a news flash. With a few rare exceptions (see Baton Rouge, etc), nearly every WBB coach out there has just as high a moral character as Pingeton, teaches values and life lessons just as good as she does, and attempts to promote a good family type atmosphere on their teams. Pingeton is not unique at all in that regard. And clearly not to the point where it excuses the thoroughly mediocre performances of her teams, and her obvious lack of recruiting.

She can easily be replaced by someone who has all her positive personal attributes, but can actually recruit and game coach and field highly competitive teams. If only the new AD has the will to do it. The jury is still out on that.
